Description : Systems Engineer Position Type (FT or PT): Full Time - RegularArea of Interest: Software Development Location: Reston Description: RealNetworks, Inc. is a rapidly growing, cutting edge technology, web based digital music, online gaming and streaming company headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Real provides the universal platform for the delivery of any digital media from any point of origin, across virtually any network, to any person on any Internet-enabled device, anywhere in the world. The SES team provides support to internal and external Technical Operations customers. The team provides comprehensive troubleshooting, diagnosis and analyses of software and hardware related challenges. Key Accountabilities (% of Time): 1. Installation of requested software built to specifications requested. - 15% 2. Troubleshooting of production systems. - 40% 3. Software and OS updates in deployment windows. - 20% 4. Processing and handling of tickets (from Operation's Ticket Queue) and documentation - 15% 4. On-call support. - 10% Education Minimum: Associates Degree in a technical field (ie. mathematics/electrical engineering/computer science, etc.) or equivalent experience Preferred: A College degree Minimum Expereince: - 3 to 5 years experience strong Linux & AIX skills - At least 3 years experience working with Sun hardware - Demonstrable experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting Unix applications and hardware faults - Familiarity and/or practical experience with T1/E1 circuits, theory of operation and SS7 signaling are valuable RealNetworks, Inc., is proud to offer our full time employees an extensive benefits package; including vacation, medical, dental, vision, 401K, an employee stock purchase program and subsidized commuting options.
