Description

Located in Bellevue, Washington, ArenaNet is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Korea-based NCSoft Corporation. The studio was formed in the spring of 2000 with the goal of creating a state-of-the-art interactive game network, and of developing premier multiplayer, online games. Having built such a network, ArenaNet continues to improve upon it, keeping stride with current technology and offering new and innovative approaches, such as a subscription-free business model, instanced missions, and streaming updates, which eliminate the need for patching. ArenaNet's diverse staff has come together from many different countries and cultures. Our team members speak a variety of languages, which — with the common bond of a love for games — help them understand the needs of the global gaming community, and allow them to listen and respond to feedback from fans around the world. In keeping with the spirit of bringing people together, ArenaNet designs and operates servers that allow gamers to play with anyone, anytime, anywhere in the world. ArenaNet, creator of Guild Wars, is looking for an industry veteran to join our Art Department. Candidates should have at least five years of experience and be well versed in artistic and software engineering matters. This artist will design workflow refinements to enhance the productivity of the art team as a whole. Also, this artist will develop tools for in-engine and art production use, as well as work with the animation department to rig and process characters and animation. Position may also include creation of game engine shaders using proprietary tools.

Artist - Senior - Level Technical Artist Qualifications:
  • Expert knowledge of Maya and a good understanding of 3DStudio Max is helpful, but not necessary
  • Expertise with scripting in Maya using Python (preferred) or MEL
  • Demonstrable expertise with rigging, lighting levels/environments, and DirectX Shader creation
  • Technically oriented with a good understanding of the art process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience documenting pipeline workflows
  • Ability and willingness to accept and follow direction, collaborating productively with others
  • Positive, professional attitude. Disciplined and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to think creatively and analytically
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multitask effectively, prioritizes competing demands, and follows through on details. Must be flexible enough to deal with changing role requirements
  • Passionate about games and able to articulate that passion clearly and analytically. Should possess broad knowledge base of console and PC games
